Serveis Caixa Catalunya Social Work owns several estates forming part of the Tosca forest, the use of which have been ceded to Les Preses Town Council. Their management allows the natural and cultural heritage of this area to be restored and preserved, thanks to the LIFE project instigated by the Town Council itself.

paisaje The Tosca forest, which extends across part of the lava outcrop of the Croscat volcano, occupies some 25 ha within the boundaries of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park.

Originally, these lands belonged to the Monastery of Sant Benet de Bages and the predominant landscape consisted of pedunculate or English oak groves. At the end of the 19th century, little fields of crops began to open up, surrounded by dry stone walls known as artigues. The result of this action was the fragmentation of the oak woods and the formation of a mosaic of fields and dry-stone walls and huts, a rural landscape of considerable ecological, geological and architectural value.

From Olot, take the C-152 heading south towards Les Preses. Less than 1 km from the end of the built-up area, turn right onto the Carretera de la Pinya (GI-5226). Head along it for approximately 500 m and then take the side-road you will find on the right. The Pedra Tosca Park and the first of the 3 tracts begin less than 200 m up this road.
