Arbre On the southern side of the mountain of Montserrat lies the last foothill known as the Rubió mountain range, which heads down towards the valley of the river Llobregat near the town of Esparreguera. This area has a less abrupt relief than Montserrat and is home to Mediterranean forests and scrubs. The deep forest area is called Boscos de can Roca-els Blaus, and this is where the property lies.

Flora The main interest of this area is geological, since it is home to outcrops of blue-coloured rock known as Els Blaus or Roques Blaves, unique to Catalonia, that can be observed from a number of scenic spots on the property. The rest of the property is a recovering Mediterranean forest of aleppo pines and holm-oak woods. This is one of the few green areas of Esparreguera and north Baix Llobregat, which is currently under threat from urban development. To preserve the area, Caixa Catalunya Social Work signed a territorial guidance agreement in 2003 with the municipality of Esparreguera for the area of Can Roca.

Itineraries Els Blaus, which is where the purchased property lies. The management plan allows for the creation of a signposted itinerary and a series of viewpoints over the geological outcrops of El Blaus. The Town Council has put forward a proposal to extend the Muntanya de Montserrat nature park, which has been approved by the Department of Housing and the Environment of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
The area is managed in collaboration with the Town Council of Esparreguera.

From Esparreguera, you can access the reserve by heading towards La Serra  de Rubió and Montserrat, along a street called the Camí de Can Comelles. At the end of this street, there is a paved track which crosses the Can Sant Joan farm, then El Batlló and finally Can Roca farm. Once well beyond the farm, you will find an earthen esplanade at the end of which there is a forest track on the right (Camí de les Bramones), which can only be used by non-motorised vehicles as it is blocked with a barrier.

You can also get there from the bottom end of the Camí de les Bramones by first taking the Riera del Puig from the intersection with Carretera de la Colònia Sedó. This road comes from Olesa and goes up the right bank of the River Llobregat towards the Colònia Sedó. Go through the entryway to the Colònia and a little further on, at a tight bend in the road, leave the Riera and carry on until you reach a barrier which marks the start of the tract.
